Fantasy role-playing inspired hard rock and metal from Falkirk, Scotland

PSYCHIC DAMAGE is the brain child of Chris Brind, a musician in the throes of changing career after nearly 30 years as a software engineer to full-time music career.

With Psychic Damage, Chris has brought together two passions – music and fantasy role-playing – into a vehicle for producing high quality hard rock and metal tunes. Chris intends to take listeners on a music journey in to this popular gaming genre.

Chris has been writing and performing music as a hobby for over 30 years. During the lockdown, he decided to elevate his craft, taking music lessons and receiving coaching from Richard Shaw (ex-Cradle of Filth), and honing his production skills through courses with renowned producer Aubrey Whitfield. This period marked a significant evolution in Chris’s musical journey, showcasing a remarkable improvement in both performance and production quality.

Now, Chris proudly presents Tome of Debilitation, the debut EP from the Psychic Damage project. This collection of tracks represents the culmination of his artistic growth and dedication to his craft, delivering a unique blend of hard rock and metal inspired by the rich narratives of fantasy role-playing games.

I'm really excited for people to hear this EP. I spent a significant amount of time planning the tracks and then took a week off work to write the tracks in my home studio. Afterward, I dedicated myself to producing and mixing the tracks, before having them professionally mastered.

Each track from the new EP Tome of Debilitation takes a spell from the world's greatest role-playing game, and gives it a unique treatment. Tracks like “Vicious Mockery” highlight the very essence of the spell in question, where tracks like “Speak with Dead” use a broader vision to tell a compelling story that fellow gamers can relate to.

Looking ahead, I plan to produce more Psychic Damage tunes to complete this small compendium of spells later this year.
